Custom Fiber Art
I create custom fiber art using silk, wool, velvet and other natural fibers. My love of fiber work has come full circle since starting in the 1970's when my mother taught me how to create traditional macramé.
The ability to create these pieces has allowed me to maintain my sanity during the COVID crisis. I’m a mental health professional specializing in treating trauma. The emotional toll the crisis has taken on all of us is vast, and the suffering has been difficult to carry.
The physical act of weaving fiber is repetitive and meditative. For me, it serves as a mindfulness practice. The movement literally calms the mind and alleviates anxiety.
I create my pieces incorporating themes of movement, flow and grace. We can choose to react to life’s challenges without thought or respond with thoughtful grace. The more we try to embody grace and graceful movement, the closer we align with a universal flow that brings us peace and calm.
